PM Modi Calls Up Stalin To Enquire About Flood Situation In Tamil Nadu
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin regarding the situation relating to floods in the state.
He assured all possible help and support to the state, ANI reported citing sources.

It comes after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs 2,000 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to aid the state in restoration and rehabilitation efforts following the devastating impact of Cyclone Fengal. The Chief Minister also urged the Union government to deploy a central team to assess the widespread damages caused by the cyclone.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Stalin described the scale of destruction: "Cyclone Fengal has wreaked unprecedented havoc across 14 districts of Tamil Nadu, affecting 1.5 crore people, inundating 2.11 lakh hectares of farmland, and damaging critical infrastructure. Given the magnitude of destruction, I urge Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs 2,000 crore from the NDRF immediately to aid emergency restoration and rehabilitation efforts."
As heavy rainfall continues to lash the state, all schools and colleges in four districts, including Nilgiris, will remain closed. Nilgiris District Magistrate Lakshmi Bhavya announced that schools in the district would remain shut on December 3 to ensure public safety.
In Thiruvannamalai district, a landslide caused by heavy rains claimed the lives of seven people, including five children. The victims have been identified as Rajkumar, his wife Meena, and their children. The family, residing in VOC Nagar, was trapped under debris when the landslide struck.
Expressing condolences, Chief Minister Stalin announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for each bereaved family from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund. "I express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of those who died in this accident and have ordered immediate financial assistance to support them during this tragic time," he said in a press release.
