Opinion Poll: Will AIADMK Bounce Back If Polls Are Held Today?

The countdown for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls has already started. The ruling NDA and the Opposition's newly-formed bloc INDIA had separate meetings to chalk out strategies for the big polls which are expected to be held in May 2024.

As the political parties prepare for the Lok Sabha polls, here comes a poll that has given a clear majority for the BJP-led NDA. The survey conducted by India TV and CNX Opinion poll has predicted that the BJP government will win 318 seats if the polls are held today.

The pollster said that the BJP will get 290 on its own. However, one key state that everybody is eagerly awaiting in South India is Tamil Nadu where the DMK had a virtually clean sweep in the 2019 elections. Can the ruling party register such a performance again? Will the AIADMK which had just won one seat in 2019 bounce back under Edappadi K Palaniswami's leadership?

India TV and CNX Opinion poll has said that the DMK-Congress alliance will bag 30 seats while the AIADMK (8) and the BJP (1) will end up winning 9 seats.

Although the ruling party is winning big, the AIADMK and the BJP might be happy to put up a decent show.

Notably, the BJP, which has been trying hard to make inroads into Tamil Nadu politics, is bagging one seat.

How The NDA is performing in South India?
Among the southern states, the BJP is predicted to do well in Karnataka by bagging 20 seats (5 lesser than 2019). In Telangana, it is expected to win six seats (two higher than 2019). However, it is failing to open an account in Andhra and Kerala, the pollster said.
