More Than Rs 1000 Crore Spent By DMK, AIADMK To Win Election In Coimbatore: Annamalai

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Friday accused the DMK and the AIADMK of spending Rs 1000 crore in Coimbatore to win the Lok Sabha seat

After casting his vote at a polling booth in Uthupatti, Karur, Annamalai said, "What DMK, AIADMK is doing in Coimbatore, everybody is watching it. More than 1000 crores have been spent in Coimbatore. If they can bring one voter in front of the media to say that some BJP person is trying to influence them, I will leave politics the same day because I am running in this election as a matter of principle,"

Annamalai is taking on DMK's Ganapathy P Rajkumar and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam AIADMK's Singai Ramachandran in Coimbatore.

"DMK thinks that it can buy people with money and AIADMK is also on the same boat. Officials in Coimbatore have gone blind for the last 2-3 days. Our people repeatedly have complained to the collector. The action has not been taken, it is not neutral," he added.

The BJP leader expressed his confidence that his party will perform well in the Lok Sabha polls. He said, "People of Tamil Nadu are with PM Modi. We are confident, our party is strong and the people are with us and June 4 will be a historic result for NDA...In Karnataka, we are expecting a clean sweep this time. BJP will be the number-one party in Telangana... Tamil Nadu this time will deliver a very big resounding result, an increase in vote share...Dravidian politics time is over..."

Annamalai said that the people have seen 10 years of BJP governance at the centre and desire its continuation for another five years. He claimed that the opposition lacks direction, while the INDIA bloc has not yet revealed its Prime Ministerial nominee. He stressed that the people of Tamil Nadu deserve clarity, highlighting the benefits the state has received in terms of funding, recognition for the Tamil language, and overall prosperity.

The TN BJP chief said that the saffron party will secure more than 25 per cent vote share, this time.

"Today I have done my democratic duty and it is an important duty for every citizen of our country because India has a functioning democracy where citizens make democracy to function. We are extremely confident that people will repost their trust in good people and governance. I am extremely confident that Tamil Nadu will witness a historic change. People will honour our all candidates for their hard work," he added.
