The Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai has officially released the schedule and booking guidelines for the Thirukalyanam (Celestial Wedding), the crowning jewel of the world-renowned Chithirai Festival.

This year, the celestial union of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar will take place on April 28, 2026, between 8:35 AM and 8:59 AM. To manage the massive influx of global devotees, the temple administration has implemented a digital lottery and strict entry protocols.

Ticket Categories & Booking Rules

Devotees can choose between two ticket categories. Please note that you cannot apply for both categories simultaneously.

• ₹500 Tickets: Maximum of 2 tickets per person.
• ₹200 Tickets: Maximum of 3 tickets per person.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Valid Photo ID (Aadhar Card/Voter ID/Passport).
• Correct Mobile Number (for SMS confirmation).
• Date of Birth details for all attendees.

How to Book Tickets: Step-by-Step

Follow these steps to register for the celestial wedding:

Visit the Official Website: Go to www.maduraimeenakshi.org.

Navigate to Chithirai Festival Section: Click on the "Thirukalyanam Ticket Booking" link.

Fill the Application: Enter personal details, choose your ticket category, and upload the required ID proofs.

Submit & Wait: Since applications usually exceed capacity, a computerized lottery system will select the winners.

Confirmation: If selected, you will receive a confirmation SMS on April 23.

Where to Collect Physical Tickets?

Confirmed applicants must visit the Yathrinivas accommodation facility at Ellis Nagar, Madurai. You must pay the ticket fee in person and present your confirmation SMS/ID to receive the physical entry pass.

Event Day: Entry & Security Protocols

To ensure a peaceful darshan, the temple has established a "controlled entry system" for April 28:

• Entry Timing: Devotees must enter between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. No entry will be permitted after 7:00 AM.
• Entry Points: * ₹500 Ticket Holders: Entry via the North Rajagopuram (North Tower).
• ₹200 Ticket Holders: Entry via designated routes near the South Tower.
