Kamal Haasan in alliance with DMK... Need of the hour or Political stunt?

Chennai: MNM Kamal Haasan's alliance with DMK is the trending political topic in Tamilnadu. Many political critics define this alliance as a normal, expected political coalition. Initially, Kamal extended his support for Rahul Gandhi's Yatra which was followed by his support in Erode By-elections for ruling DMK-headed Secular Progressive Alliance candidate EVKS Elangovan.

Even DMK extended a warm welcome to Kamal Haasan. While canvassing for EVKS Elangavon, Kamal Haasan explained his reason to join hands with the DMK-lead Secular Progressive Alliance. He said, "BJP is trying to destroy the secularism prevailing in our country. This is the major reason behind my alliance with DMK". He even shared about the troubles he faced during the release of his film 'Vishwaroopam'.

Truths shared by Kamal:

While canvassing he continued, "I canvassed for a different party last time. This time it is for another party. You may ask why? When the country is in danger, you got to keep the symbols, flags, and policies aside. My country is more important now. We may have differences of opinion. We could sort it out through discussions. But without any space for healthy discussions, they are destroying our language and culture.

We have to join together to eradicate that evil power. That's why I decided to stand by the side of justice by extending my support to the Secular Progressive Alliance candidate in this Erode by-election. To keep my country as a secular nation I got to stand by Congress. Tamilnadu will no more tolerate their 'divide and rule' policy.

We cannot accept One Pyjama, One Flag, and One Language in this country. Dravidianism is a nationwide notion and Only Tamilnadu can remind this to our country. Until the term 'Dravidam' exists in our National Anthem, Dravidam will exist in this real world. Until our country exists in this world, we will remain as a Secular Nation. This is my wish. And for the same reason I am supporting this Secular Progressive Alliance.

I would like to express my gratitude towards CM M.K. Stalin and brother Udhayanithi Stalin for giving a warm welcome. I indeed had criticised this alliance in the past. Criticisms are part of Democracy. This alliance is not made just for any mere political benefit. I can share my own experience as an example.

Kalaignar's Support for Vishwaroopam:

I faced so many troubles during the release of my film 'Vishwaroopam'. I believed that truth will always triumph. During that crucial period the then DMK president M. Karunanidhi connected with me through a phone call. He promised me that he would stand for me and was ready to help me. But I refused. A leader who was at the service of people should not mind an individual like me. Yet he made a promise that he will be there for me at any time.

Within the next 30 minutes, M.K. Stalin called me via phone and expressed his willingness to aid me at any cost. If I made an alliance with them at that time, you can term it a profitable alliance. But I never did. Now, the people of Tamilnadu are in distress. So this alliance is unavoidable.

My parents and grandparents worked hard to unite many presidencies into One Nation. This means this Nation has many languages, many Religions and many colours. And no one can put the diversities in a single mixer to bring out their colour. We will never accept that. The entire nation had figured this out and Tamilnadu will stand as a pioneer in withstanding Secularism.

Kamal Haasan in Maiam:

MNM party member and lyricist Snehan says that "MNM leader is implementing everything he advocated in reel life to real life.

DMK Advocate Saravanan shares, "Whoever wishes for our Nation's development will never ever support BJP. DMK's politics has always been centred around Secularism. Now MNM leader Kamla Haasan arrived at the same point. In Haryana, a BJP member indulged in violence against Islamic people under the name of 'Protecting Cows'. Just because he is a BJP member no legal actions were taken against him.

AIADMK is in alliance with such a political party in Tamilnadu. We always stood for the Islam people. At the same, we showed our heavy opposition to CAA. If BJP won the 2024 elections, there won't be any Secularism left in our country. Kamal Haasan realised this and made an alliance with the DMK- Congress.

As per BJP's policies, no one in this nation should be unique, there should not be any diversity in culture, religion, language and food. They want the entire nation to eat the same chapati, speak Hindi and pray to only one god. This is highly dangerous and political leaders like Kamal Haasan already sensed this danger.

But the AIADMK party only fears IT raids and nothing else. They don't have any time to worry about the nation. They are in need to secure their hard-earned money from IT departmental raids".

Kamal's decision is just for political benefit:

MNM Tiruvallur Southwest secretary A. Basil says, "Erode by-election is the most crucial election not only for Tamilnadu but for the entire nation. That's why MNM leader Kamal Haasan made a huge effort and announced the alliance immediately. In AIADMK, everything from the candidate to the party's president is decided by the BJP. BJP is trying hard to gain a place in Tamilnadu through AIADMK.

EPS already announced his party's support to BJP in the 2024 elections. But to suppress this religious nationalistic party, Kamal made his alliance with DMK- Congress. He didn't make this alliance for his own benefit rather it is for the benefit of the entire nation. He is a gem of a person who invested his hard-earned money from movies again and again in the same industry just for the love of his art. If he wanted more profit he would have invested his money in various other businesses. But he wished to aid his art and industry. MNM- DMK alliance was made to curb the dangers that are awaiting".
