Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam Scheme: When Will Registration Begin Again For 1000 Rupees Scheme?
At a time when Tamil Nadu is preparing for the next state assembly elections, the DMK government has come up with a good news for women.
The women, who had failed to register their names under Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam' (KMUT) scheme, will get another opportunity to enrol in Rs 1000 scheme.

When Will Registration Begin Again?
Chief Minister MK Stalin himself has announced in the Tamil Nadu Assembly about the commencement of registration again. Well, it will begin in June 2025.
In 2021, the promise of Rs.1000 as monthly financial assistance was made during election campaign. During the budget for the financial year 2023-24, 7000 crores was allotted for the implementation of the scheme. In July 2023, CM Stalin inaugurated the camp held at Thoppur Government Higher Secondary school in Dharmapuri, for the women family heads to apply for the scheme.
Who is eligible for the scheme?
- All women and transgender persons above 21 years of age are eligible to apply for the scheme. That is, those women born before September 15, 2002 can apply.
- Families earning annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakhs
- Families holding less than five acres of Wetland or less than ten acres of dryland.
- Families consuming less than 3600 units of electricity per year for domestic use.
- Only one beneficiary per family card is eligible to apply.
- In case a family has more than one woman above the age of 21, only one of them can apply for the scheme.
- Those who wish to avail the benefits of the scheme should apply for it at their ration shops.
Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam: Exemptions
- Families earning an annual income of Rs. 2.5 lakh and above.
- Persons who file Income tax returns with an annual family income of over Rs. 2.5 Lakhs and income taxpayers.
- Professional taxpayers earning an income of Rs 2.5 lakh and above, per annum.
- Employees of state and Central governments and PSUs, bank employees and pensioners are not eligible to apply for the scheme.
- Elected People's Representatives (other than Village Panchayat Ward Members) i.e. Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, District Panchayat Chairman, District Panchayat Councillors, Panchayat Union Chairman, Panchayat Union Councillors, Village Panchayat Presidents, Chairman and Councillors of Municipal Corporations, Municipalities and Town Panchayats.
- Those having four wheelers such as Car, jeep, tractor, heavy vehicles for own use.
- Owners of business establishments with an annual turnover of more than 50 lakhs and paying Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- Families already receiving regular Social Security Scheme Pensions such as Old Age Pension (OAP), Widow Pension.
- Unorganised Workers' Welfare Pension and families receiving Pension/Family pension from Government.
