Judicial custody of Swathi's murderer extended

Nungambakkam, Aug 2: The judicial custody of P. Ramkumar, who is an accused in Swathi murder case, has been extended till August 12.

Magistrate S. Gopinath extended Ramkumar's remand through videoconference facility. When the matter came up for hearing, the prison officials produced Ramkumar before the videoconference from Puzhal prison.

Last week, the Nungambakkam police was granted permission to videograph Ramkumar on August 8 so that the police could match it with the footages of Ramkumar collected near Nungambakkam railway station, before and after the murder. The police is likely to send the videographs and the CCTV footage for forensic analysis.

Meanwhile, the Nungambakkam police has sought the permission of the court to collect signature specimen from Ramkumar. After all the documents are collected, the police can file a chargesheet before the court.
