Jayalalithaa's health- How different are these statements of spokespersons?

Since September when the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was admitted for infection and fever the AIADMK has been in a rut.

'Only needs rest', 'perfectly fine', 'infection is totally under control', 'has recovered fully', ask any AIADMK leader about J Jayalalithaa's health and this is all you will hear, albeit paraphrashed each time.

Since September when the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was admitted for infection and fever the AIADMK has been in a rut. Here is what spokespersons of AIADMK have said for about a month now.

Spokesperson Ponnaiyan said, "Amma has begun talking to people. She spoke to Dr Richard Beale from England and thanked him for taking good care of her"

AIADMK's C R Saraswati said, "She is completely well and will come home soon. God is by her side,"

"She is very well. God is by her side. She will come home soon," party spokesperson CR Saraswathy said.

C R Saraswathi said, "The Chief Minister is on the road to full recovery and it is for the doctors at Apollo Hospitals to decide on her discharge."

C R Saraswati said "Amma is doing well and will come back to resume her 'makkal pani' (people's duty) very soon. She is perfectly fine"

"She is very well and is consuming normal food. She has started living a normal life. She will return soon and resume public service," C R Saraswathy said.

AIADMK's spokesperson C R Saraswati said "Amma's health has improved greatly. So much so that she monitors everything from the hospital now. She is very healthy. As Dr. Pratap Reddy of Apollo said last week, Amma is getting better and she has even started giving instructions to party leaders"

C R Saraswati said, "I met the doctors today and they tell me that she keeps a tab on everything, reads newspapers everyday. She even spoke to Mathivanan, son of Visalakshi Nedunchezhian to convey how saddened she was for his loss. It is just a matter of days before she returns home. She is undergoing physiotherapy since she had spent many days in ICU. All she requires now is rest. She is being updated about the party's activities including the IT wing's novel ways of campaigning"

From their own admission, none of these leaders have met Jayalalithaa since the day she was admitted to Apollo. They have never been allowed to meet her leave alone have a conversation. Even for party members, her health condition is hearsay.

The last official statement on J Jayalalithaa's health was on November 4 when the hospital's chief Pratap Reddy was gheraoed by media persons where he said 'she asked for what she wanted'. From then on the AIADMK has only stuck to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister being hale and hearty quoting Pratap Reddy at all times.
