'Jailer' 3-Day Box Office Collection (Tamil Nadu): Rajinikanth-Starrer On Fire

Rajinikanth's film 'Jailer' witnessed a higher box office collection on Saturday compared to Friday in Tamil Nadu.

Released in over 700 screens, 'Jailer' hit the screens on Thursday to coincide with the Independence Day celebration. Like his past movies, the movie did not have special morning shows despite generating a good pre-release buzz.

However, it did not stop the movie from getting a great start as the Tamil flick registered its best opening for a Rajinikanth film. On the first day, it minted Rs 26.5 crore. On the following day, the movie raked in over 15 crore.

Well, the Tamil flick came out with flying colours on Saturday as it made about Rs 17 crore. Thus taking the 3-day total collection to Rs 58.5 crore. Please note that these are estimated numbers and not the official figures. In Chennai alone, the film has estimated to have earned over Rs 5 crore.

Sharing excitement over the great response for the movie, Nikilesh Surya, manager of Nikilesh Surya, tweeted, "The staggering #NELSON comeback fact from @RohiniSilverScr : Blockbuster #Jailer 5 days footfall count to exceed previous outing #Beast Lifetime footfall count @RohiniSilverScr An inspiring tale of ignoring negativity and focusing on the job at hand."

Not just in Tamil Nadu, the movie has done well in Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala. The movie has outperformed other big releases like 'Bholaa Shankar', 'OMG 2' and 'Gaddar 2' at key centres.

On the third day, the movie is estimated to have collected around Rs 70 crore at the worldwide box office. The three-day collection of the flick in India is over Rs 100 crore while the worldwide gross business is estimated to be around Rs 220 crore.

Meanwhile, the Tamil flick has grossed over $3.2 million at the US box office.

'Jailer' is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran. The action thriller movie, which also has Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar, has been appreciated for the good storyline backed by Rajini's super performance.
