Humanity at its worst: Man throws a dog from terrace in Chennai

Chennai, July 5: A horrifying video posted on Monday, July 4 of man throwing a dog from five storied building in Chennai has gone viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from animal lover and activists.

According to reports, the man in the video has been identified as Gautam S, a medical student at Kundrathur in Kancheepuram district. It was his collegemate who identified this culprit, police informed.

In that video the dog was kept on the edge of the terrace and the dog was seen shivering. However, the man was seen posing for the camera in a slow-motion panning of the shot while helpless animal being flaunt off from the five storied building. The video ends with the sound of dog crying in pain.

For this inhuman act many people has offered cash reward of Rs 100,000 to anyone who was willing to voluntarily provide valid information of the perpetrator.

Shravan Krishnan, an animal welfare activist who led the police to the college and said that "we got information from the collegemate, who recognized the student from the video that went viral. It was because of this information that we could lead the police to the right college."

Sally Kannan, outreach consultant at Humane Society International, wrote on Facebook: "Humane Society International/India is offering a reward of Rs 100,000 to anyone who is willing to volunteer valid information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this evil."

Meanwhile, Chennai police had registered a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the duo.
