Fasting Muslims Kicked Out; Drunkards, Rowdies Attended Vijay's Iftar Party: Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat

Drunkards and rowdies attended the Iftar event recently organised by Tamil actor Vijay's newly founded political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam at the YMCA Grounds in Chennai.

What's In The Complaint?

Drunkards Rowdies Attended Vijay s Iftar Party

A case in this regard has been filed by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat, an Islamic organization, according to a report in Daily Thanthi. The complaint was lodged on March 7 on the day the event was held in Chennai.

Syed Ghous, the organization's treasurer, has reportedly signed the complaint, who has accused the Iftar of being a violation of the sanctity of a traditional gathering. It mentions that an Iftar is not a public convention or political meeting but a dignified religious event.

It accuses Drunkards and rowdies, who had no links to Iftar, of attending the event. The bouncers allegedly assaulted fasting Muslims and kicked them out, the report added. Also, it slammed Thalapathy Vijay for arriving 90 minutes before the scheduled event, causing trouble for the people.

The complaint urges the authorities to take action against Vijay for conducting the event that disrespected religious practises.

Vijay is one of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema. He has decided to quit films to focus on his political career. His upcoming movie Jana Nayagan will be his last flick before he gets himself fully busy in politics.

Vijay's Muslim Outreach

Vijay, who is all set to contest in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls 2026, hosted a grand Iftar gathering at YMCA Grounds in Royapettah, Chennai, on Friday. He sported white attire and a skull cap and took part in the evening prayers before breaking the fast.

The event saw a massive turnout, with imams from 15 mosques across Chennai in attendance. Nearly 3,000 people were accommodated for the feast, and reports suggest that Vijay himself observed a full day of fasting.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay extended his greetings to the Muslim community, acknowledging their commitment to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and the values of humanity and brotherhood. "I am very happy to extend this warm invitation to all the Muslim relatives who followed the life of the great man Prophet Muhammad," he said.
