A hoarding in Tamil Nadu's Kuruvimalai for the Aadi Perukku festival sparked controversy after it featured an image of former adult film star Mia Khalifa carrying a traditional milk vessel.

The image, altered to show Khalifa holding a 'paal kudam,' a customary offering in the festival honoring Goddess Amman (Parvati), drew widespread criticism from festival-goers and social media users.

The hoarding was part of the elaborate decorations set up for the 'Aadi' festival, where temples across Tamil Nadu celebrate with grand festivities.

However, after the image went viral, the Magaral Police Station intervened and had the hoarding removed, according to a report in IANS.

The incident has raised concerns about the inappropriate use of images in religious contexts.
