Did Amit Shah Scold Tamilisai Soundararajan? Here's What Tamil Nadu BJP Leader Says

Former Telangana Governor and BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan has responded to a recent video showing an animated discussion between her and the Union Home Minister. Many interpreted the exchange as a warning from him over her recent comments about the Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai.

Taking to social media platform X, Soundararajan clarified the nature of their conversation. She explained that during their meeting in Andhra Pradesh after the 2024 elections, Shah inquired about post-poll follow-up and challenges faced. She emphasized that his advice to intensify political and constituency work was given with utmost concern and reassurance, dispelling any speculation.

She wrote, "Yesterday, as I met our Honourable Home Minister Sri Amit Shah ji in AP for the first time after the 2024 Elections he called me to ask about post-poll follow-up and the challenges faced. As I was elaborating, due to paucity of time, with utmost concern he advised to carry out the political and constituency work intensively, which was reassuring. This is to clarify all unwarranted speculations around (sic)."

The video, capturing Shah seemingly rebuking Soundararajan during the swearing-in ceremony of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, went viral after it was shared by state BJP leaders. BJP Tamil Nadu social media cell vice president Karthik Gopinath described it as a strong admonishment from Shah, as reported by The Economic Times.

Citing The Economic Times, BJP Tamil Nadu social media cell vice president Karthik Gopinath commented on the interaction, suggesting it looked like a strong admonishment from Shah.

The DMK slammed Amit Shah for treating the Tamil Nadu leader without respect. "It's so unfortunate. She was the Governor of Telangana and Puducherry. We feel bad," Maran said.

"Will the Home Minister give the same treatment to (Finance Minister) Nirmala Sitharaman or (External Affairs Minister ) S Jaishankar? Just because she (Tamilisai) is from Tamil Nadu, can she be treated any way? This is most unwelcomed," the former Union Minister said.

DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai wrote on X, "What kind of politics is this? Is it polite to publicly reprimand a prominent female politician from Tamil Nadu? Amit Shah should know that everyone will see this. A very wrong example!"
