Deepavali 2024 Bus Ticket Booking (Tamil Nadu): TNSTC Opens Advance Reservations - How To Book?
With Deepavali, one of Tamil Nadu's most important festivals, set to be celebrated on October 31, 2024, preparations for travel are already in full swing. Advance bookings for Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus tickets have begun, and seats are filling up fast.
The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a new system allowing travellers to book tickets two months in advance. As per the reports, over 9500 reservations have been made across the state for October 29, with more than 7200 from Chennai alone. Similarly, for October 30, over 7900 seats have been booked statewide, and 5900 from Chennai. Over 130 buses are already fully booked, and the numbers are expected to increase as the festival approaches.

To accommodate the growing demand, the Tamil Nadu transport department will operate special buses. A consultation meeting led by the transport minister is scheduled for early October, where an announcement on additional services will be made.
Special services will also run from cities like Koyambedu, Madhavaram, Bengaluru, Erode, and Tirupur, with return services available from Chennai and Bengaluru. In 2023, about 5.66 lakh people traveled from Chennai alone during festivals like Pongal and Deepavali, highlighting the massive scale of festive travel in the state.
For those looking to secure their tickets, booking can be done through the TNSTC website , the TNSTC app, or at booking centers at bus terminals.
