Cyclone Vardah: Schools, colleges in affected areas to remain shut in TN

Holiday has been declared for schools to assess the damages caused by Cyclone Vardah

Chennai, Dec 12: The Tamil Nadu government on Monday evening announced that schools in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur will remain shut on Tuesday.

The public instructions department released a notification that all government, government-aided, private schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts will remain closed on December 13.

Holiday has been declared for schools to assess the damages caused by Cyclone Vardah.

Government schools and colleges are being used as relief centers for those evacuated from low lying areas.

The cyclone has left four people dead and damaged more than 40 huts.
