Cyclone Michaung In Chennai: 11 Trains Canceled After Alert; Steps To Check Train Status At IRCTC Website

The Chennai Central on Monday announced the cancellation of 11 trains following an alert for Cyclone Michaung . According to the reports, the water level touched the danger level mark at Bridge Number 14 between Vyasarpadi and Basin Bridge after heavy rains. Southern Railway's Divisional Railway Manager in Chennai in a post on X said, "Given the heavy rain in Chennai and the water crossing the danger level in Bridge Number 14 between Basin Bridge and Vyasarpady stations, the trains have been regulated, please go through the updated schedule and plan your journeys accordingly. We regret the inconvenience caused."

Chief Public Relations Officer for the Southern Railway, B. Guganesan, informed train names and numbers for commuters ease.

The Southern Railways has also announced to refund commuters' fares which they had paid in advance to book the tickets. "On account of the cancellation of trains, a full refund shall be provided to all passengers scheduled to travel on the affected trains," said Chief Public Relations Officer, Southern Railway, B. Guganesan.

The commuters can plan their journey after checking the train availability and timing through IRCTC's website by simply following the steps mentioned below:

• Open your browser and go to www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search OR sr.indianrailways.gov.in/
• On the home page at the left-hand side, click on the option of 'Check Train PNR'
• Fill your PNR Number with other details and click enter
• Details of trains available with their schedule will appear on your screen.
