Coimbatore Transformed Into 100% Smart City And No.1 At National Level In Just 2 Years
With rapid development under the Dravidian model of governance, the city of Coimbatore has risen to global standards and bagged the first place for the best implementation of the Smart City project at the national level.
CM Stalin played a crucial role in transforming the 2nd largest city in Tamil Nadu into a quality metropolis, one noteworthy act is the allocation of 9000 crores to the metro project in Coimbatore, the works for which are carried out at lightning speed.

Vetrichelvan, Deputy Mayor of Coimbatore said, "Coimbatore has been ranked 2nd at the national level and 1st at the state level with respect to the Smart City project. The 40% Smart city project work done in the last 10 years has been converted to 100% in the last 2 years of DMK government.
Some of the outstanding works done in the last 2 years include the creation of a pavement in the Coimbatore Race Course road with Tamil letters to commemorate the Tamil festival of Pongal; digital display of portraits of leaders in D.B. Road, who fought actively for the formation of Coimbatore Corporation and the allocation of 600 crores for the rapid completion of Western Ring Road."

Babu, DMK's Engineer Team District Organiser said, "The Smart City project launched during Karunanidhi's period created employment opportunities for youngsters. CM Stalin after assuming power expedited the Smart City project works; started the 3rd phase works of the Pillur drinking water project and initiated the construction of 3 flyovers after identifying traffic high areas.
Coimbatore got its 1st Tidel Park during Kalaignar's period and the 2nd one established during his son Stalin's period has brought great employment opportunities. In the past, youngsters of Coimbatore were forced to migrate to Karnataka or Chennai to work in the technical field due to lack of facilities.

With the improvement in the infrastructure and facilities under the Smart City project, youth of Coimbatore can study as well as work in the city. CM Stalin has allocated funds to projects such as the 2009 Singanallur flyover project which was abandoned by ADMK."

Shanthi Murugan, Coimbatore Corporation Works Committee Chairman said, "In the last 10 years, there was no proper road facility in Coimbatore. After assuming power, CM Stalin has allocated 450 crores for the repair and construction of new roads."

Prathap IAS, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner said, "After assuming power, CM Stalin announced 63 health centres for Coimbatore, out of which 45 were inaugurated already. In the last 2 years, 54 different projects have been carried out at a cost of 990 crores including the installment of LED lights in lakeside areas, upgrading the quality of roads etc.

The Union government has honoured Coimbatore Corporation by giving 1st prize at national level for the best implementation of the schemes under Smart City project. The entire credit for the achievement goes to CM Stalin."

N. Karthik, Coimbatore DMK District Secretary said, "Taking into consideration the increasing traffic congestion, CM Stalin announced a metro rail project worth 9000 crores in Coimbatore in the Assembly meeting.
