Christians And Muslims Are ‘Children of Satan': Seeman Triggers Controversy

Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Seeman has triggered a fresh controversy after calling Christians and Muslims the 'Children of Satan'.

During a protest to condemn the Manipur issue on Sunday, Seeman blamed Christians and Muslims for the violence across the country as they vote for the Congress and the DMK.

In a viral clip, Seeman is heard saying that Christians and Muslims became 'Children of Satan' for many years "while it is only us who think those who have embraced Christianity and Islam are Children of God", according to a report in The Hindu.

"They go to churches and sing 'Devaney Vareer' (Come to Us, God) but they have given the country (Tamil Nadu) to questionable people. The Christians and Muslims (in Tamil Nadu) should take responsibility for the injustices and iniquities happening here," he said.

However, his statement has been condemned by several organisations.

Tamil Nadu Platform for People's Unity (TNPPU) said, "Seeman has spewed hatred because the minorities vote for the DMK alliance. He has clearly stated this in his speech. It is the RSS and its political wing, the BJP, that are destroying religious harmony in India and creating permanent fear in the lives of minorities. In Tamil Nadu, it is riding on the back of AIADMK. Realising that the DMK alliance has the strength to overcome it, the minorities are voting for that team. Seeman says this is a big mistake. His purpose is clear. The anti-BJP votes should be scattered and the BJP team should win,"

Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) leader M H Jawahirulllah slammed Seeman and demanded him an apology for his comments. He said that the NTK leader had spewed venom on the two religions in the name of holding protests against Manipur violence. "Seeman should seek an apology for calling Muslims and Christians as sathanin pillaigal," said Jawahirullah

What Seeman Says on the controversy?

Responding to the controversy, Seeman has said that he has not got success in elections due to minorities.

"They are continuously supporting injustice. The Prophet has said those who are corrupt and take bribes will face the wrath of God. You (minorities) don't take bribes and you are not corrupt, but you support those who are corrupt. DMK and Congress continue to receive 18% of minority votes consistently. How can there be a political change? What is DMK's position now on the release of Muslim prisoners? In a response to the Madras High Court, the State government said the prisoners continue to harbour similar mindset even today while opposing the release of long-term prisoners," he said.

The NTK leader stated that the situation is so bad in Tamil Nadu that people are struggling to build houses due to unprecedented price rises. "Jesus said he came to Earth to light a revolutionary fire against injustice. Who spit on that fire to extinguish it? Where is that revolutionary fire? Is no injustice happening here?," he asked.
