Chennai Weather Alert: KTCC To Get Heavy Rains For Next 3-4 Days
Tamil Nadu Weather News: The Chennai City and parts of the KTCC (Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu) will witness heavy rains in the next three to four days.
RMC Issues Yellow Alert
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for Chennai and neighbouring regions. Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari are expected to get heavy rains.

"Under favourable conditions widespread rains likely over Peninsular India. For the next three-four days north Tamil Nadu things look good for thunderstorms. Hopefully Chennai and suburbs will get at least one day of widespread rains," weather blogger Chennai Rains said in a post on X.
Another blogger Tamil Nadu Weather Man said, "KTCC (Chennai) Rain update - next few days we will be getting very good thunderstorms in coming 4-5 days including today.
Today storms are perfectly circling Chennai and should grow in size nearing Chennai and give very good spell in the next 1-2 hours.
Enjoy the spells."
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has reported active Southwest Monsoon conditions across Kerala, coastal and South Interior Karnataka, and the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu.
This weather pattern is influenced by an east-west trough positioned roughly above sea level, and an upper air cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka and its surrounding areas.
Consequently, the RMC has issued an orange alert, indicating very heavy rainfall, for the Nilgiris and Western Ghat areas of Coimbatore on July 18, 19, and 20.
Recent rainfall data shows significant precipitation, with Avalanche in the Nilgiris recording 11.8 cm and Chinnakalar in Coimbatore receiving 11.2 cm of rainfall in a single day. Vint Worth Estate in Nilgiris and Cincona in Coimbatore also experienced substantial rainfall, with 8.4 cm and 8.2 cm respectively.
