The protesting drivers are also calling for compensation policies for those who suffer fatal accidents while on duty. Meanwhile, drivers operating under platforms like Namma Yatri and Taxina will continue their services without disruption.

The timing of the strike aligns with the implementation of revised auto-rickshaw fares, as announced by the auto union. Under the new structure, the base fare will increase to Rs 50 for the first 1.8 km, followed by Rs 18 per additional kilometer. Waiting charges will be set at Rs 1.50 per minute after the first five minutes, and a 50% surcharge will apply for rides between 11 PM and 5 AM.

Drivers allege that Uber and Ola deduct up to 25% commission per ride, significantly affecting their take-home earnings. In contrast, subscription-based platforms like Namma Yatri and Taxina charge a fixed daily fee, allowing drivers to retain the full fare from passengers.

The strike underscores ongoing tensions between drivers and app-based aggregators, with demands centering on fair pay structures and enhanced safety measures for those behind the wheel.
