Chennai Or Coimbatore? Kamal Haasan Eyes These 2 Places For Lok Sabha 2024
Tamil Superstar Kamal Haasan has set his eyes on two places to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
He will either contest from Coimbatore or Chennai. It has to be noted that the actor is part of the INDIA bloc and the DMK.

Kamal had lost to BJP's Vanathi Srinivasan in the assembly elections from Coimbatore in 2021. However, the winning margin for the BJP was a little over 1500 votes.
In 2019, his MNM candidate Dr R Mahendran ended in third place in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat, as he secured 1,45,104 votes with a vote share of 11.6 per cent of the total votes polled. Currently, the Coimbatore seat is held by DMK's ally CPI-M.

Kamal Haasan's 'Makkal Needhi Maiam' (MNM) has recently been granted the symbol of a battery torch.
The veteran actor will have to hold several rounds of discussions between the DMK and the CPI-M leadership, along with other coalition members. However, for seats in Chennai (North, Central, or South), the DMK can easily allocate them from its own pool.
These three Chennai seats are currently held by prominent figures from established political lineages within the DMK. Dayanidhi Maran, representing Chennai Central, is the cousin of the party's leader and Chief Minister, MK Stalin. Dr Kalanidhi Veeraswamy, the MP for Chennai North, is the son of the influential leader Arcot N Veeraswami. Dr Thamizachi Thangapandian, the MP for Chennai South, comes from a family with a political background, with her father being a former MLA and her brother currently serving as a minister in Tamil Nadu.
Sources told the IANS that Kamal Haasan is open to contest in Coimbatore and Chennai.
