Chennai One App Offers Bus, Metro, And Train Tickets For Just Re 1: CUMTA Launches Mega Commute Deal
The Tamil Nadu government's Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has announced a special offer allowing commuters to book bus, metro, and local train tickets for just Re 1 using the 'Chennai One' app. The offer is applicable when payments are made through the BHIM Payments App or Navi UPI.
According to CUMTA, the Chennai One app-designed as an all-in-one daily commute platform-lets users plan and pay for their travel seamlessly across various public transport modes. "Getting the ₹1 ticket is simple. Open or download the Chennai One app, select your travel destination, and complete the payment via BHIM Payments App or Navi UPI to unlock the Re 1 fare," the authority said in its official release.

The offer is valid only for successfully used tickets and cannot be combined with other promotions. Each registered Chennai One account can avail the offer only once, across either bus, metro, or suburban train travel during the campaign period. Users will also receive surprise cashback rewards on subsequent transactions made during the offer period. The full terms and conditions are available within the app, CUMTA added in its November 12 announcement.
Officials said the Chennai One app has received an enthusiastic response from residents. Within its first month, the platform recorded 5.5 lakh registered users, 14 lakh journey searches, and 8.1 lakh ticket bookings.
Commuters have praised the app for its clean interface, single QR system, and the convenience of planning, paying, and tracking an entire journey-covering bus, metro, suburban rail, autos, and cabs-within a single platform.
CUMTA Commissioner Jeyakumar highlighted that the initiative supports Chennai's broader mobility goals. "Designed with commuters in mind, Chennai One aligns with the city's vision of faster, safer, and greener mobility for every household in Chennai. The ₹1 fare offer invites everyone to experience simple, digital-first travel across buses, metro, and suburban trains. Our aim is to make public transport the natural choice for daily commuting while promoting cashless payments," he said.
