Chennai Miracle Turns Tragic: Mother Of Rescued Baby Ended Her Life After Online Shaming
In a tragic incident, the woman whose baby was dramatically rescued by neighbors after being stuck on the edge of a tin roof of a Chennai apartment has reportedly died by suicide.
The deceased, identified as 33-year-old Ramya, had fallen into a state of depression following the incident, The Hindu reported.

She was an IT professional and her husband worked in an IT company.
On April 28, a video went viral showing an eight-month-old baby hanging from the plastic sheet covering the roof of an apartment in Avadi, Chennai. Neighbors were seen holding bedsheets on the ground to catch the baby in case of a fall, while some climbed out of a window to save the child.
Although the neighbors were praised for their quick actions, Ramya faced severe criticism for alleged negligence. sources told The New Indian Express that she was heartbroken after the incident and the public shaming. However, neighbors asserted that she had been caring for the baby well and that the incident was an accident.
On Sunday, while her parents were away attending a function, Ramya was left alone at home. Upon their return, they discovered her unconscious. Hastening to a nearby hospital, they sought help, but sadly, it was too late.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
