BJP Leader Annamalai Challenges Claims Of Wealth Spike Before Tamil Nadu Polls

The BJP State President, Annamalai, has made a bold statement, offering to leave politics if anyone can prove that his wealth has significantly increased. This comes as Tamil Nadu gears up for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19, which will see a fierce competition among several parties including DMK, AIADMK, BJP, and Naam Tamizhar. This year, the BJP has taken a lead in forming an alliance with various parties like PMK, AMMK, OPS Group, and Tamil Maanila Congress.

Annamalai is contesting from Coimbatore among the 19 constituencies where BJP is directly competing. His nomination sparked controversy with allegations of errors in his application. However, it was clarified that among two applications he submitted, the incorrect one was discarded. Amidst this, another debate has surfaced regarding Annamalai's assets. It was rumored that his wealth increased by 117% in three years, a claim he firmly denies, stating an increase of only 11%.

Annamalai Refutes Wealth Spike Claims

Addressing the media in Cuddalore, Annamalai clarified that all details of his assets and cases filed against him by the DMK government are transparently listed in his nomination papers. He refuted the exaggerated claims about his asset growth and compared it to the average property value increase of 4 to 6% annually. He highlighted his purchase of land during his tenure as an IPS officer, emphasizing the normalcy of an 18% increase over three years.

In a striking comparison, Annamalai pointed out that TR Balu's wife's property value surged by 450%, questioning the integrity of other political figures. He expressed his commitment to introducing alternative politics in Tamil Nadu, promising not to engage in vote-buying practices in Coimbatore. This stance signifies Annamalai's attempt to set a new standard in political conduct and transparency.
