AIADMK Leader KA Sengottaiyan Sacked Following Call For Reintegrating Expelled Members

KA Sengottaiyan, a senior leader of the AIADMK, has been dismissed from the party. His removal follows his call for the re-admission of expelled leaders such as VK Sasikala, O Panneerselvam, and TTV Dhinakaran. Sengottaiyan's dismissal highlights the growing tensions within the party as it prepares for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Sengottaiyan had previously stressed that only a unified AIADMK could achieve victory in the upcoming elections. He set a ten-day deadline for Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), the party's general secretary, to start reintegrating these leaders. If EPS failed to act, Sengottaiyan warned that like-minded members would unite to push for reunification independently.

Call for Unity

In Erode, Sengottaiyan publicly urged EPS to swiftly reunite the party by reinstating all expelled leaders within ten days. Following this demand, he was removed from his roles as organising secretary of the state and Erode Rural West district secretary. He emphasised that unity among all factions was crucial for success and insisted on immediate reconciliation efforts.

Sengottaiyan argued that expelled leaders were willing to return without conditions. He cited former AIADMK leaders MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, who reinstated critics to strengthen the party. He warned that ongoing factionalism would damage electoral prospects. While some expelled leaders supported his unity call, senior insiders loyal to EPS dismissed it as an attempt to create discord.
