Lok Sabha Elections 2024: AIADMK Eyes Strong Comeback Under Edappadi K Palaniswami's Leadership
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 are crucial for Edappadi K Palaniswami, the leader of AIADMK. How well his party performs in these elections will have a big impact on their future, especially with the state Assembly elections just two years away.
After Palaniswami expelled his former colleague O Panneerselvam from the party in 2022, he took several steps to solidify his position as the undisputed leader of AIADMK. One significant move was breaking ties with the BJP, hoping to form a strong alliance for the Lok Sabha polls.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Despite expecting some of DMK's allies to join them, AIADMK could only manage a smaller alliance with parties like Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam. Even their previous ally, the PMK, joined hands with the BJP, causing further setbacks.
Now, Palaniswami is emphasizing the power of the people, contrasting it with the reliance of DMK on its allies. Winning these elections is crucial for him to prove his leadership, especially after defeat in the 2021 Assembly polls.
Palaniswami, known as EPS, is working hard to secure a good number of seats in the Lok Sabha polls to boost his political stature. However, it's going to be a tough battle against DMK's strong electoral presence.
Facing challenges from both DMK and BJP, Palaniswami is focusing on key state issues like the Cauvery water problem to win over voters. However, he's avoiding direct criticism of the central government to maintain a balanced stance.
Despite criticisms and challenges, Palaniswami remains confident in his leadership and strategy for the elections. With the polls approaching on April 19, all eyes are on AIADMK and Palaniswami's performance in reshaping the party's future.
