A Government Which Embraces The Non-voters, Meeting With Pazha Nedumaran Sends Out A Loud Message

CM Stalin's meeting with Pazha Nedumaran, the President of the World Tamil Federation has become the highlight in the political circle. On the account of the birth anniversary of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, CM Stalin visited his memorial in Pasumpon village in Ramanathapuram district and paid his tributes.

Before visiting the memorial in Pasumpon, he also paid tributes to freedom fighters, the Maruthu Pandiyar brothers in Madurai Teppakulam and inaugurated the construction of a flyover in Goripalayam junction at a cost of 190.40 crore to reduce traffic congestion in Madurai.

Amidst all the events, CM Stalin paid a visit to Pazha Nedumaran's house in Madurai, where the President of the World Tamil Federation is resting due to ill health. The highlight of the visit is that the senior politician Pazha Nedumaran is a political adversary of the DMK organisation, who published a book criticising former CM Karunanidhi, especially after the Mullivaikkal massacre in Sri Lanka.

DMK and Pazha Nedumaran's relationship was not a smooth sail due to Nedumaran's close contact with Sasikala's husband Natarajan and his active support to the ADMK party. Tamil Eelam supporters and other politicians like Suba Veerapandian are not politically engaging with Pazha Nedumaran anymore due to his involvement with BJP in the recent days and his refusal to criticise PM Modi.

In a situation like this, keeping aside the political conflicts, CM Stalin paid a visit to Nedumaran's house to inquire about his well-being. This compassionate and empathetic behaviour of CM Stalin is revered in the political circle and in social media.

After the CM's visit, Pazha Nedumaran shared some past events which indicates the type of friendship between him and the CM. "The fact that CM Stalin visited my house amidst his busy schedule to inquire about my health moved me. In 2002, I was arrested under POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) and put in Cuddalore jail, where Stalin and some of his followers were also kept due to their participation in some protests.

Our stay in the same block in Cuddalore jail provided us an opportunity to discuss various things which resulted in respect for each other regardless of our political differences. CM Stalin visiting my house to comfort me will be an unforgettable memory for me. My heartfelt gratitude for his kindness", said Pazha Nedumaran.

CM Stalin's tweet about the meeting with Pazha Nedumaran said, "During my visit to Madurai, I went to the house of Pazha Nedumaran, the President of World Tamil Federation hearing about his ill health. We exchanged the memories of our conversations during our stay in Cuddalore jail. I wish for the speedy recovery and good health of the respected Pazha Nedumaran."

On 29.06.2023, around 7.00 pm Governor of Tamil Nadu R.N. Ravi informed the removal of Senthil Balaji from the Minister post. Regarding the incident, Pazha Nedumaran criticised the Governor's action in support of DMK. In his criticism, Nedumaran has highlighted the fact that Ministers can be appointed and removed only on the advice of the Chief Minister at the state level and Prime Minister at the national level as per the Indian Constitution.

"Governor should have consulted legal scholars whether he has the authority to remove a member from holding a Minister post or not. Due to some mishap, the Governor himself suspended the order for the removal, in the middle of the night", said Nedumaran in his criticism.

Stalin used to say that this government is for the non-voters. Encounter with Pazha Nedumaran indicates the same message.
