Chennai Gold Rate: Gold prices at leading jewellery retailers in Chennai remained elevated on Thursday, with 22-carat gold comfortably holding above the ₹14,000 per gram mark across most showrooms, reflecting steady underlying demand and firm global cues.

A comparison of rates across prominent jewellers shows marginal variations, largely driven by brand positioning and making charges, while the broader trend remains consistent with bullion benchmarks.

Retail Gold Prices Across Chennai

At GRT Jewellers, 24K gold was priced at ₹15,366 per gram, while 22K stood at ₹14,075. Lower purity variants were quoted at ₹11,524 (18K) and ₹8,964 (14K). Silver was retailing at ₹275 per gram.

Similarly, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers quoted slightly higher prices, with 24K gold at ₹15,486 and 22K at ₹14,185 per gram. Their 18K rate came in at ₹11,614, with silver matching the ₹275 per gram mark.

At Lalitha Jewellery, 22K gold was aligned with GRT at ₹14,075 per gram, though silver was marginally lower at ₹270.

Saravana Stores Elite Jewellery listed 22K gold at ₹14,180 and 18K at ₹11,610, while silver remained steady at ₹275.

Prices at Jeyachandran Gold House were slightly higher in the premium segment, with 24K gold at ₹15,447 and 22K at ₹14,160. Their 18K rate stood at ₹11,585.45, with silver at ₹270.

Meanwhile, Swarna Maligai quoted one of the higher 22K rates at ₹14,250 per gram and 18K at ₹11,880, with silver at ₹275.

In Coimbatore, prices were largely in sync. Kota Gold Jewellery listed 24K gold at ₹15,546 and 22K at ₹14,250 per gram, indicating a similar pricing trend across Tamil Nadu's key jewellery hubs.

Silver at D.A.R Jewellery was quoted at ₹275 per gram, reinforcing uniformity in retail silver pricing.

Bullion vs Retail Gap

According to bullion data, 24K gold in Tamil Nadu was priced at ₹15,276 per gram, while 22K stood at ₹14,003. This indicates a retail premium of ₹70-₹200 per gram across jewellers, which typically covers logistics, hedging costs, and brand margins.

Silver bullion was quoted at ₹246 per gram for 999 fine, significantly lower than retail rates of ₹270-₹275, highlighting the markup at the consumer level.
