8th Pay Commission Implementation Date: FM Nirmala Sitharaman Likely To Announce Official Date In Budget 2025

8th Pay Commission: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to make the official implementation date announcement in the Union Budget 2025. Earlier on January 16, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the set up of the 8th Pay Commission after it was approved by the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

And now, the sources have reported an official announcement on the date of the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission salary structure. The tenure of the Seventh Pay Commission will end in 2026, however, the government may give directions to implement 8th Pay Commission norms before that.

8th Pay Commission news

It was learned whether 8th Pay Commission will be implemented from January 1, 2026, or next financial year. The current salary structure, under the 7th Pay Commission, for central government employees came into effect in 2016.

8th Pay Commission will be a big boost in central government employees' salary structure.

The salary revisions will depend on the 'fitment factor'. But what is 'fitment factor'?

The fitment factor helps in calculating the hike in the basic salary. With the fitment factor at 2.57 under the 7th Pay Commission, the salaries in Level 1 were increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000.

Reports suggested that this fitment factor is likely to shoot to 2.86, which means level 1 salary may go up from Rs 18,000 to 51,000.
