YouTuber Praneeth Hanumanthu Who 'Joked' About Child Abuse Arrested In Bengaluru

Controversial YouTuber Praneeth Hanumanthu has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly making insensitive comments about a foreign reel in a YouTube podcast. He mocked the father-daughter relationship and made some extremely derogatory comments. The public was outraged by his and his group's remarks, which were downright offensive and vulgar.

Praneeth was arrested in Bengaluru by the Hyderabad Police under a PT warrant and is reportedly being transferred to Hyderabad.

Allegedly, Praneeth, accompanied by a group of individuals, made sexist comments that sparked significant outrage. His remarks garnered widespread condemnation from various quarters.

Numerous celebrities voiced strong objections against Praneeth, prompting the Telangana Cyber Bureau to file an FIR. CM Revanth Reddy and other government ministers pledged stringent action, denouncing his behavior.

Although Praneeth deleted the video and issued a public apology amidst the backlash, the repercussions of his actions have already reverberated.

Praneeth is expected to appear in court soon.

Praneeth was arrested in connection with a case registered under FIR number 18/2024 for violations of various sections of the Information Technology Act. The YouTuber went into hiding upon learning of the case against him. "The case involves a group of individuals engaged in vulgar and obscene conversations about a father-daughter relationship on a YouTube podcast,'' TG-CSB officials said in a press note.

Who Is Praneeth Hanumanthu?

Praneeth Hanumanthu is an actor, celebrity interviewer, and popular YouTuber. Born to H. Arun Kumar, a respected IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh, Praneeth has an elder brother named Ajay Hanumantu, who is also active on YouTube.

A graduate of Symbiosis Law College, Pune, as per his LinkedIn profile, Praneeth gained fame for his styling tips and interviews with actors like Nani for "Hi Nanna" and Karthikeya Gummakonda for "Bhaja Veeyu Vegam."

With a substantial following on social media, he boasts 172K subscribers on YouTube and 56.1K followers on Instagram. While known for his humor, a recent controversial video mocking father-daughter relationships sparked public outcry. Despite issuing an apology, Praneeth faced legal repercussions, including an FIR filed by Telangana police.

This incident isn't the first time Hanumantu has faced criticism for insensitive remarks. He has previously made offensive comments targeting marginalized groups, such as orphans and the differently-abled.
