Woman Slapped By Auto Driver After Cancelling Ola Ride, Internet Calls For License Cancellation
A shocking incident involving an auto driver slapping a woman over a ride cancellation has sparked widespread outrage on social media. The altercation occurred when a woman booked an auto through Ola but later canceled it, opting for another vehicle to reach her destination. The enraged Ola auto driver confronted her, leading to a heated argument that escalated into physical assault in broad daylight.
According to the viral video recorded by the woman, the confrontation occurred in the presence of other auto drivers. The driver can be seen shouting at the woman, who repeatedly asks, "Aap chilla kyu rahe ho [Why are you shouting]?" The argument intensifies when the driver questions the cancellation, asking, "Galti se kaise hota hai [How is it a mistake]?" He also complains about who will bear the fuel costs.

The woman admitted to canceling the Ola ride when the auto was just a minute away. As tensions rose, she threatened to go to the police if the driver did not calm down. However, the driver continued to insist that both should go to the police station, demanding that she accompany him. The argument took an unexpected turn when the woman suggested going to a different police station, stating that she already had his phone number and auto details. In response, the driver suddenly slapped her, shocking onlookers.
The video of the altercation, shared on September 5 on X (formerly Twitter), has since gone viral, amassing over 66,500 views. The caption of the post reads:
"The safety of women is of utmost importance. If, in broad daylight, this individual was able to assault two women merely for canceling a ride due to an issue, one can only imagine the potential dangers he could pose in more secluded settings. Bangalore City Police, it is imperative that strict and decisive action be taken against this autorickshaw driver. His actions not only endanger individuals but also tarnish the city's reputation. Ola Support, it is crucial to address whether thorough background checks and character verifications are conducted before hiring drivers. It is essential that stringent measures are implemented to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of all passengers."
The video has prompted widespread condemnation, with many viewers demanding the driver's arrest and cancellation of his license. Comments flooded the post, expressing anger and concern over the incident:
"How dare he! Cancel his license and throw him behind bars," wrote one user.
Another added, "This is utterly disgusting CP Bengaluru. Please take action immediately."
A third viewer commented, "He seems more frustrated about the Hindi language."
"Strict action needs to be taken against this person. How can he behave in such a manner?" said another.
The Bengaluru City Police have not yet commented on the incident, but the video has sparked renewed debates about the safety of women in public spaces and the accountability of ride-sharing platforms.
Many are urging Ola to tighten its background checks and ensure that drivers undergo character verifications to prevent similar incidents in the future.
