Woman Alleges Uber Driver Came Back Unannounced To Her Pick-Up Point To Demand Rs 2,500 Extra

An Uber driver harassed a family travelling from Mysuru to Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport, turning what should have been a straightforward journey into a distressing experience.

Nidhi Tara, a member of the family, recounted the incident in a detailed LinkedIn post, explaining how the driver became aggressive and demanded an additional Rs 2500 on top of the agreed fare, reported the Times of India.

Tara stated that although they initially agreed to pay a toll of Rs 450, the situation escalated when they arrived at the airport, with the driver issuing threats after the family refused to pay the extra amount.

In her LinkedIn post, Nidhi Tara wrote, "This should have ended there but last night, things escalated."

The same driver allegedly appeared unannounced at her pickup point in Mysuru at 10.30 pm and harassed her elderly grandparents, accusing them of cheating and demanding further payment. Tara highlighted that "his behaviour not only left us deeply shaken but posed a serious threat to our safety."

Despite numerous attempts to reach Uber's customer service, Tara claims they have not received an adequate response.

"An issue of this nature - post-trip harassment - is as critical as in-trip incidents. For any service provider, but especially in the ride-sharing industry, passenger safety cannot be compromised," she remarked.

Nidhi Tara is now appealing to the public for assistance, hoping to make contact with Uber India's leadership and safety team to ensure swift action is taken.

She stressed, "This is not just about one incident but ensuring no other family experiences something like this again."
