Will Ban RSS, If...: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge's Big Statement

The political confrontation between Congress and BJP in Karnataka escalates as Priyank Kharge threatens to ban the RSS if Congress is elected. BJP leaders defend the RSS, heightening tensions in the state.

The ongoing verbal clash between the Congress and BJP in Karnataka has intensified. Minister Priyank Kharge's remarks about banning the RSS if Congress comes to power at the Centre have added fuel to the fire. He stated, "If our government comes to power at the Centre, we will ban the RSS." This statement has sparked a heated debate.

Priyank Kharge criticised the RSS for its stance against secularism and socialism. He mentioned that Congress had previously banned the RSS twice and regretted lifting those bans. According to him, the RSS has always been allergic to equality and economic parity since its inception. He reiterated his opposition to their ideology.

Karnataka Political Tensions Rise Over RSS Ban

RSS Ban Controversy

Kharge emphasised that Congress has consistently opposed RSS principles and will continue to do so. He recalled past instances when the RSS was banned, only for them to plead innocence regarding anti-national activities. "We have records of these events," he said, hinting at potential future actions if Congress regains power.

BJP leaders have fiercely responded to Kharge's comments on banning the Sangh Parivar. State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra questioned whether Priyank Kharge would be intimidated by empty threats, stating, "Will you fear an empty vessel's noise?" The BJP views the RSS as a patriotic organisation with millions of volunteers worldwide.

BJP's Response

Vijayendra urged Priyank Kharge to recognise this truth rather than view it through a lens of despair. He described the RSS as a great tree that political forces have unsuccessfully tried to uproot for decades. Vijayendra also questioned Congress's future existence, suggesting they focus on their survival rather than making bold claims.

The debate over banning the RSS continues to stir political tensions in Karnataka. Both parties remain firm in their positions, with Congress criticising the RSS's ideology and BJP defending its legacy as a patriotic organisation.
