Why Is Bengaluru’s Electronics City Flyover Closing at Night? Details Here
In a significant development for commuters in Bengaluru, the Electronics City flyover is set to undergo night-time maintenance following an announcement from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). From Wednesday onwards, the Bengaluru traffic police have implemented nightly restrictions on vehicle movement along the critical 9.98-km elevated corridor, which will be closed from 11 PM to 6 AM daily until further notice.

Bengaluru traffic restrictions
The advisory issued by the traffic police highlights that vehicles traveling from Silk Board towards Electronics City, as well as those moving in the opposite direction, will need to seek alternative routes during these restricted hours. However, traffic on the flyover will remain fully operational between 6 AM and 11 PM, ensuring access for all types of vehicles during daylight hours.
Authorities are urging commuters to adapt their travel plans accordingly and to cooperate with traffic officials to minimize inconvenience during the maintenance period. By obeying traffic directives and seeking alternative routes where necessary, drivers can help ensure a smoother flow of traffic in the area.
Importance of the Electronics City Flyover
The Electronics City flyover, inaugurated in 2010, plays a vital role in connecting Bengaluru's city center with its thriving IT and manufacturing hub. This corridor is essential for thousands of employees who work in prominent companies, such as Infosys, Biocon, and HP, located in the Electronics City area. Additionally, the flyover experiences significant traffic from commuters traveling from neighboring regions, including Hosur and Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.
As maintenance work progresses, the NHAI is committed to ensuring safety and improving the structural integrity of the flyover, which is crucial for the city's transportation infrastructure. Commuters are advised to stay informed about traffic updates and any changes to the maintenance schedule as work unfolds.
