Who Is Suraj Revanna, JD(S) Leader Arrested For Alleged 'Unnatural Sex' Offence?

Suraj Revanna, a leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the brother of suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, was arrested on Sunday following a complaint by a party worker.

He was booked under various sections of the IPC, including "unnatural offences," for allegedly sexually sodomising a 27-year-old man a few days ago.

The complainant accused Suraj of sexually assaulting him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16. Suraj has, however, categorically denied the allegations, claiming the complainant was trying to extort money from him by threatening to file a false sexual assault case.

"I absolutely reject these allegations. They are part of a political conspiracy. An FIR has also been lodged against the complainant. Let the truth come out. I have faith in the law of the land," Suraj said.

According to Suraj's aide, HL Shivakumar, the JD(S) worker initially demanded Rs 5 crore, later reducing it to Rs 2 crore. The aide claimed that the man had met Suraj six months ago and again in June seeking a job, reported Hindustan Times.

Suraj said that he could not help the man secure a job at the moment but might consider it in the future, after which the complainant demanded Rs 5 crore.

Who is Suraj Revanna?

Suraj Revanna, an MLC in Karnataka Assembly, is the eldest son of Holenarasipur MLA HD Revanna and the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

The Revanna family is facing multiple controversies, including the leak of sexually explicit videos featuring Prajwal Revanna with hundreds of women.

Prajwal was arrested by the SIT at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on May 31 after returning from Germany, where he had fled following accusations of rape and intimidation.

Meanwhile, Suraj and Prajwal's parents, HD Revanna and Bhavani, are out on bail. They are accused of kidnapping and detaining a victim allegedly assaulted by Prajwal.
