Two More Held In Chikkamagaluru For Wearing Tiger Nail Dollars After Bigg Boss Kannada Contestant's Arrest
In the wake of the arrest of Varthur Santosh, a contestant on the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss' Season 10, for possessing a tiger claw locket, two more people have been arrested in Chikmagalur, known officially as Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka, for the same offense. According to TV9 reports, the two men, identified as Satish of Bharathibailu and KS Ranjith of Halemane, were arrested after forest officials found them wearing tiger claw lockets.
This has sparked a lot of discussion about the legality and ethics of wearing tiger claw lockets.

This unusual incident has sparked a lot of discussion, both on social media and among the general public, shedding light on a topic many might not have been familiar with. As Varthur Santosh sits in judicial custody, the controversy surrounding his arrest and the possession of tiger claws continues to ripple through the media.
Varthur Santosh's arrest stems from his appearance on the popular reality television show 'Bigg Boss.' During his time on the show, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a distinctive tiger claw locket hanging around his neck. What initially seemed like a fashion statement quickly transformed into a legal issue. Unbeknownst to many, possessing tiger nails is not just a matter of personal style; it's against the law.
Tiger claws are protected under various wildlife preservation acts and international conventions. They are not meant to be bought or sold, and their possession is considered illegal in many countries, including India. The endangered status of tigers makes these regulations particularly stringent. The illicit trade in tiger parts poses a significant threat to the survival of this majestic species. So when Varthur Santosh was seen wearing a locket adorned with genuine tiger claws, the matter was treated with utmost seriousness.
The incident reached a turning point when the forest department decided to investigate the authenticity of the tiger claw locket in question. On the evening of October 22, officials from the forest department made a visit to the 'Bigg Boss' house. They requested that the contestant, Varthur Santosh, remove the necklace so that they could conduct a thorough examination. The purpose was clear: to ascertain whether the tiger claws on the locket were indeed real.
Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the claws on the locket were genuine tiger claws, leading to immediate action. The forest officials, having established the authenticity of the tiger claws, requested that the show's organizers hand over Varthur Santosh to them. The situation escalated rapidly, and within a matter of hours, Santosh found himself walking out of the 'Bigg Boss' house and into the custody of the forest department.
Varthur Santosh, popularly known as 'Hallikar Odeya,' gained recognition and fame through his involvement in the conservation and breeding of the Hallikar breed of cattle. As the chairman of the Hallikar Cattle Breed or the All India Hallikar Breed Conservation Committee, he has played an instrumental role in promoting and preserving this unique breed.
The controversy surrounding the tiger claw locket has not been limited to Varthur Santosh alone. There are also many examples of common people wearing this type of locket.
