The Railway Department has approved the construction of five flyovers in Tumkur district, totaling Rs 350 crores, marking V. Somanna's first major initiative since assuming office as Minister of State for Railways.
One of the flyovers, costing Rs 57.3 crore, will span between Kyatsandra - Mydala Gate in Tumkur city. Additionally, flyovers will be constructed near Baddihalli Gate (Rs 89.03 crore), Battawadi Gate (Rs 97.69 crore), Hareyur Road - Mallasandra Gate (Rs 55.99 crore), and Nittur Station (Rs 50.57 crore).

These infrastructure developments aim to enhance road and rail connectivity across the district, ensuring smoother and safer transportation. V. Somanna expressed confidence in expedited project completion and dedicated efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw commended the Railway Department officials for their efforts in providing this essential infrastructure to the state's residents.
Since his electoral victory, V. Somanna has prioritized development in Tumkur constituency, following a model akin to Varanasi. Notably, the Chennai to Shimoga train service has already commenced via Tumkur, and the approval for flyover constructions reflects public demand and support for Somanna's proactive governance.
