Tourists Temporarily Banned From Trekking To Ettina Bhuja
The Forest Department has temporarily banned tourist entry to the popular trekking destination Ettina Bhuja in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district due to safety concerns following heavy upland rains that have exposed the area's scenic beauty.
Despite prior instructions from Forest Minister Ishwara Khandre to limit daily visitors through online ticketing, over 20,000 tourists flocked to Ettina Bhuja in just three days from last Saturday to Monday. The influx of visitors has raised concerns about the potential risks of landslides and mishaps, particularly due to the heavy winds, downpours, and foggy conditions.

To address these concerns, the government has warned authorities of appropriate action for failing to enforce the online ticketing rule. As a precautionary measure, the Forest Department has restricted tourist access to Ettina Bhuja until further notice to facilitate the implementation of necessary basic facilities for visitor safety. The department said that these measures are temporary and essential for the well-being of visitors, urging tourists to comply with the restrictions and stay updated on future announcements regarding access to Ettina Bhuja.
Ettina Bhuja, a favorite trekking destination, is a scenic spot that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. However, the area's narrow paths and fragile terrain make it prone to landslides and other hazards during heavy rainfall.
