Siddaramaiah Questions BJP's Leadership As Congress Marks 100 Days In Karnataka
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday questioned the leadership of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as his Congress government marked its 100th day in office.
Siddaramaiah pointed out that the BJP has been unable to designate an opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly for more than 100 days. He said that this is an unprecedented situation in the history of Karnataka's politics and is a sign of the BJP's decline in the state.

"Never before has a political party faced such a dismal state," Siddaramaiah said. "Even after more than 100 days since the new government's establishment, the BJP has yet to elect its opposition leader. This is an unprecedented scenario in the history of Karnataka's politics."
Siddaramaiah also responded to questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to ISRO in Bengaluru, during which he did not meet with his own party members. Siddaramaiah said that this is further evidence of the BJP's decline in Karnataka.
"Modi's absence from interactions with BJP members won't hinder the movement of its leaders toward the Congress," Siddaramaiah said. "We warmly welcome all those who adopt the Congress ideology."
Siddaramaiah's comments come at a time when the BJP is facing increasing challenges in Karnataka. The party has been hit by a series of defections in recent months, and its popularity has declined in opinion polls.
The Congress party, on the other hand, is seen as being in a strong position. The party won the 2018 assembly elections with a comfortable majority, and Siddaramaiah is seen as a popular and effective leader.
The BJP is likely to face an uphill battle in the next assembly elections in Karnataka. The party will need to find a way to unite its ranks and regain the support of the people if it wants to return to power.
In addition to the issues mentioned by Siddaramaiah, the BJP is also facing criticism for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Karnataka. The state has been one of the worst-hit by the pandemic, and the BJP has been accused of mismanaging the crisis.
