School Holiday Declared in Multiple Karnataka Districts Due to Intense Rainfall

Heavy rains continue to lash various parts of Karnataka, prompting authorities to declare holidays for schools and colleges in key districts on Wednesday, June 25. The monsoon has made a strong entry into the state, with coastal regions experiencing relentless downpours. The forecast suggests that this weather pattern may persist for another four to five days.

In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall, district officials have announced school and college closures in several areas. Specifically, the districts of Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, and Hassan have been affected by these weather conditions. Orders have been issued by district commissioners to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Weather Forecast and School Closures

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted continued heavy rain in Dharwad and Belagavi districts. Consequently, Belagavi's district commissioner Mohammad Roshan has declared holidays for anganwadis and educational institutions in Belagavi and Khanapur taluks. Meanwhile, other districts are not expected to experience such severe weather conditions.

Hassan's Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari has announced a holiday for primary and secondary schools in Sakleshpur taluk due to the adverse weather. The coastal region has also been experiencing intense rainfall over the past week. In Uttara Kannada district, heavy rain is anticipated on Wednesday as well.

Impact on Coastal Regions

Given the persistent rainfall in coastal areas, Dandeli taluk's schools and colleges in Uttara Kannada district will remain closed as per orders from Tehsildar Shailesh Paramanand. This decision aims to prevent any potential risks associated with travelling during such inclement weather.

The monsoon season is expected to continue its intensity across Karnataka until the end of June. District administrators have taken precautionary measures by declaring holidays for educational institutions in affected regions. This ensures that students remain safe during these challenging weather conditions.
