Rs 65,700: Sasikala's take-home at the end of her jail term
Sasikala by making candles everyday till the end of her jail term could earn an approximate of Rs 65,700.
Bengaluru, Feb 16: AIADMK interim chief Sasikala is in jail and will remain there for the next 3.6 years unless she gets a remission of sentence due to good conduct. As she entered the jail on Wednesday, she was handed over the jail uniform -- a blue saree, plate and a tumbler. The work allotted to her was candle making at Rs 50 a day.
If Sasikala remains in jail for the entire tenure of 3.6 years and makes candles every day then she would earn an approximate of Rs 65,700. This amount would be given to her at the end of her jail term.

Every prisoner is given a job to do and for the same they are paid a daily wage. The wages depend on the nature of the work. In Sasikala's case, the wage is Rs 50 and she will earn it by making candles.
Sasikala was given three sarees when she entered the jail. She is sharing a cell with two other women. She has been given a cot, matress and a table fan. She had asked for an AC room which was rejected.
The Bengaluru central jail is, however, not new to Sasikala. She had spent over 20 days in 2014 when she was convicted by the trial court. Jayalalithaa at that time was in cell number 23. Sasikala at that time had shared a cell with co-convict Ilavarasi.
The other convict Sudhakaran was put up in a cell which was next to the one in which mining baron Janardhan Reddy was.
