Rashmika Mandanna's 'Hyderabad' Remark Sparks Outrage
Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who has a huge fan following, is once again in the middle of controversy-this time for saying, "I'm from Hyderabad." While Rashmika has admirers across the country, she has often faced criticism in Karnataka, and her latest remark has only made things worse.

What Did Rashmika Say?
During a promotional event for her latest film Chhava with Vicky Kaushal, held in Mumbai on February 14, Rashmika proudly stated, "I am from Hyderabad. I came from there alone. I think I am part of your family now." While this remark might seem harmless to many, it did not sit well with her Kannada-speaking audience.
Social media was flooded with reactions from Kannadigas who felt Rashmika had completely distanced herself from Karnataka. Some questioned her identity, sarcastically asking, "When did Rashmika become a Hyderabadi? Did she change her birth certificate?" Others speculated, "She was a Hyderabadi even before she married Vijay Deverakonda." Some critics even went as far as to claim, "She forgot her hometown for love."

A section of users also pointed out that Rashmika has a history of making controversial statements. Previously, she had been criticised for allegedly saying in an interview, "I don't even know Kannada," which had already fueled resentment among Kannada movie lovers.
Rashmika has been under scrutiny multiple times, especially for her perceived lack of connection with Karnataka. Many believe this latest remark further cements her growing disconnect from her home state.
It must be noted thay Rashmika Mandanna made her debut in Kannada cinema and has acted in five Kannada films. Since 2021, she has been actively working in Telugu and Hindi films.
As the controversy continues to trend on social media, Rashmika Mandanna is yet to respond to the backlash.
