Rameshwaram Cafe Blast: NIA Uncovers ISIS Shivamogga Module, Suspect Traced To Karnataka's Malenadu
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly obtained information indicating that the suspect involved in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast hails from Karnataka's Malenadu region and is well-acquainted with Bengaluru. According to a report by TV9 Kannada, the anti-terror agency has identified the organisation associated with the suspect and is currently interrogating more individuals connected to it.

Responding to speculations regarding the suspect's origins in Karnataka, Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara stated that this information is yet to be confirmed. "There are speculations doing rounds, but it is yet to be confirmed. It will be proved only when he is arrested. The police are currently zeroing in on the accused," Parameshwara said.
Forensic analysis of samples collected from the blast site at Rameshwaram Cafe has suggested the involvement of a well-known terror organization in the attack. The NIA has been actively monitoring ISIS operatives in south India, particularly in Shivamogga, since 2020. Mohammed Shariq, involved in the Mangaluru cooker blast case, has been charged by the NIA.
The Home Minister mentioned on Monday that the NIA and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) are close to identifying the suspect. Last week, the NIA conducted searches in areas like Ballari, Kalaburagi, and Bidar. The suspect allegedly left a bag containing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the cafe and then traveled to Tumakuru, eventually reaching Ballari on March 1. CCTV footage captured the suspect at the Ballari bus stand before he took an auto to Ballari City. Subsequently, he is believed to have boarded a state-run bus to flee from Ballari.
The NIA has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the suspect's arrest. The blast at Rameshwaram Cafe resulted in injuries to nine people.
