Pro-Kannada Activist Vatal Nagaraj Wears 'Burqa' During Cauvery Protest [Watch]

Pro-Kannada Activist Vatal Nagaraj hogged the media limelight on Friday after wearing 'burqa', while attending a protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

'Kannada Okkuta', led by Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj, has called for a state-wide bandh on Friday. Nagaraj was seen in the burqa-clad avatar in the protest.

Speaking to media, he said, "You may call it 'burqa' as a dress worn by Muslim women, but it represents the women of justice in the court."

Nagaraj is known for attention-grabbing protests in Karnataka. The President of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha. Often, he organizes protests and demonstrations in unique ways to bring attention to various issues affecting Kannadigas.

These protests often involve street performances, satirical acts and wearing unusual costumes to convey his message.

Meanwhile, The Karnataka bandh received a good response in Bengaluru and other southern parts of the State on Friday, disrupting normal life.

Authorities have clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code in Bengaluru Urban, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Ramanagara and Hassan districts, and declared a holiday for schools and colleges there.

The schools and offices have remained closed today in Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka. However, limited buses are plying in the state.
