Power cut in Bengaluru: Brace yourself for darkness!
Bengaluru, Sept 1: People in Bengaluru! Set yourself ready to embrace darkness in the coming days.
A proposal for load shedding in Bengaluru city has been approved by the State Cabinet on Monday, Aug 31.

According to the proposal, Bengaluru will have load shedding for two hours and eight hours in rural areas.
The installed power production capacity of the state is 10,189 Mega Watt.
But the production is about 6,600 MW to 7,300 MW, which leads to a production deficit of 3,000 MW.
In order to compensate with this, the state government would be spending Rs 247 crore every month. The expenditure on the same, till May 2016 is estimated to be Rs 3,070 crore.
Speaking to the media , the State Law Minister T B Jayachandra said, "In the prevailing situation the cabinet has approval of buying power from private companies at a rate of Rs 5.08 per unit.
The Energy Department will release the details regarding load shedding in a day or two.
