One8 Commune Near Chinnaswamy Stadium Shut Over Unpaid Dues After Virat Kohli Exit

The One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru, once linked to Virat Kohli, has shut its doors following a court order over unpaid dues. The outlet near the Chinnaswamy Stadium is to remain closed while financial and legal disputes are addressed by the operator.

The civil court direction comes after the building owner complained of long-pending rent, maintenance fees and revenue share. Reports state that payments had not been made for around six months, leading to arrears of more than Rs 2 crore before the court stepped in.

One8 Commune restaurant case after Virat Kohli exit in Bengaluru

Kohli had already cut ties with the One8 Commune restaurant before the shutdown. The brand name was removed from the outlet, which had opened in December 2023 and quickly drew attention because of Kohli’s earlier association and its location close to the popular cricket stadium.

The restaurant was run by Trio Hills Hospitality, which has now been ordered by the city civil court to stop business on the premises until all outstanding payments are cleared. The directive covers rent, other building charges and the agreed share of revenue owed to the property owner.

Regulatory controversies around One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru

Even before the rent dispute, One8 Commune in Bengaluru had drawn official scrutiny. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike reportedly sent several notices over regulatory issues, including allegations that the outlet functioned without securing all necessary approvals from different civic and safety authorities.

The restaurant also faced a case under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act for not providing a designated smoking area. Authorities further accused the outlet of staying open beyond permitted operating hours, adding to the list of legal and compliance problems around the establishment.

Business at One8 Commune was reported to have weakened after Kohli’s exit from the project. With financial obligations mounting, ongoing regulatory complaints and the latest court order, the restaurant now remains closed, and its future depends on whether Trio Hills Hospitality clears all dues.
