Obscene Videos Case: Rape Case Filed Against Prajwal Revanna In Scandal

A legal complaint involving sexual assault has been lodged against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in connection with the sex tapes controversy. This is the second instance of charges being brought against the politician within this case, and it was initiated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Police.

A case has been filed under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, accusing JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, of multiple charges in relation to the sex tapes scandal. These charges include Section 376(2)(N) (repeated rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354A(1)(ii) (demanding sexual favors), 354(B) (assault with the intention to disrobe), and 354(C) (sharing nude or semi-nude pictures). Prajwal Revanna has been named as the sole accused in the First Information Report (FIR).

Earlier, another case was filed against Prajwal Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, due to allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation, stalking, and violating the dignity of a woman who worked at their residence. The recent controversy has arisen from explicit videos that were widely shared on social media, allegedly featuring Prajwal Revanna. He has denied the allegations and claimed the videos were manipulated.

In response to the allegations, the Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) that issued a global lookout notice for Prajwal Revanna at international immigration centers. He reportedly left the country after the allegations surfaced and is said to be in Frankfurt, Germany. Prajwal Revanna was expected to meet with the SIT but sought anticipatory bail from a sessions court in Bengaluru.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that Prajwal Revanna did not obtain political clearance for his trip to Germany. The controversy has become a point of contention between the BJP and the Congress, as JD(S) is an NDA ally in Karnataka. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed this issue during a rally, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize for the incident.

A local BJP leader, G Devaraje Gowda, has gained attention in connection with the sex scandal involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna. A letter from Gowda to the BJP's Karnataka chief BY Vijayendra from last year resurfaced, in which he advised against granting the Hassan poll ticket to Prajwal Revanna. Gowda alleged serious misconduct and warned of potential political consequences, claiming he obtained nearly 3,000 sex videos from a pen drive provided by Prajwal Revanna's former driver.

On Thursday, Gowda met with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and submitted the digital evidence, including the pen drive. He also provided a statement to the SIT, detailing how he acquired the pen drive. This development follows the SIT serving Gowda with a notice in relation to the ongoing sex scandal investigation.
