'No Link Between My Film And The Issue': Actor Siddharth Disappointed After 'Chithha' Event Disrupted
Actor Siddharth faced disruption during his movie 'Chiththa' promotion event in Bengaluru, allegedly at the hands of a pro-Kannada group, resulting in the event's cancellation. Expressing his disappointment, Siddharth said that his film has no connection to the ongoing Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and the cancellation caused significant financial loss to the film's producers.

Siddharth explained as quoted by Indian Express, "In Bengaluru, an incident occurred. This was the first time I, as a producer, screened my film to a pre-release audience. The film was shown to the media in Chennai and Kochi, and a similar screening was planned in Bengaluru. We also intended to showcase the film to about 2,000 students before its release, a unique initiative. There was also a plan to screen the film for Kannada stars that night. But everything was cancelled by us as a mark of respect to the bandh. We incurred a huge loss, but beyond that, it was disappointing that we couldn't share a good film with people there"
He continued, "The press was supposed to watch the film after the interaction, but you all saw what happened. It happened in front of many cameras., and I prefer not to discuss it. At a time when the film is receiving a positive response, I don't want to divert attention from it.There's no relation between my film and the issue. I believe my social responsibility will show up in the films I make spending my money."
For those unfamiliar with the situation, Siddharth was promoting his upcoming movie 'Chithha' in Bengaluru on September 28 when an alleged pro-Kannada group disrupted the event, citing the ongoing Cauvery water dispute as a reason for its cancellation. The activists had advised Siddharth that it was not an appropriate time to promote his film due to Karnataka's conflict with Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery water issue. Later, Siddharth had to exit the press conference without addressing the media about his film.
Regarding Siddharth's film 'Chithha' or 'Chikku,' it is directed by SU Arun Kumar and is described as an intense family drama. The movie revolves around a man's relentless quest to find his missing niece, with Siddharth not only playing the lead role but also serving as the film's producer.
