New Satellite Township Between Bidadi And Harohalli to Ease Bengaluru's Congestion
The Karnataka cabinet has approved an Integrated Satellite Township spanning 8,032 acres between Bidadi and Harohalli to tackle Bengaluru's congestion. The project, under the Greater Bangalore Development Authority (GBDA), will cover ten villages in Ramanagara district, strategically located along the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway.
Law Minister HK Patil stated that the initiative aligns with a broader plan to develop satellite towns in Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Doddaballapur, and Magadi, easing Bengaluru's burden with enhanced infrastructure and job opportunities.

Designed around the 'work-live-play' model, the township will follow a master plan created by a globally renowned firm selected through competitive bidding. A high-level committee, led by the additional chief secretary, will oversee implementation.
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, advocating for Ramanagara's renaming to Bengaluru South, emphasized the project's role in city decongestion. The cabinet has given in-principle approval for preliminary work, with GBDA overseeing all developments within the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region (BMR).
This ambitious plan aims to ensure sustainable urban growth while addressing Bengaluru's infrastructure challenges.
