Namma Metro To Add Three New Routes By 2026

If the metro services start on these two new routes by the end of December 2026, the total number of routes will reach 5. The expected ridership on the metro rail is expected to exceed 1.5 million daily. Additionally, the Yellow Line will connect Bommasandra to Hebbagodi by the end of this year, the Pink Line to Chandapura by December 2025, and the Blue Line to Begur by December 2026, as reported by Prajavani.

Furthermore, a driverless train has started operating on the Yellow Line, which connects the National University of Education Road to Bommasandra. The Proto Type Two train coaches were delivered by the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) in December. They reached Bangalore on February 15, according to BMRCL officials.

The transport-based metro control system (CBTC) is operating along this route along with the existing "Distance to Go" (DTG) system. The Yellow Line, which is 18.82 kilometers long and has 16 stations, is 98% complete in terms of construction. However, due to the delay in completing the rail coach procurement, some technical works, including signal testing and CBTC, are pending. Various examinations are taking place after the Lok Sabha elections in April-May, officials clarified.

Pink Line: The Pink Line, which connects Kalena Agrahara to Nagavara, has the longest underground stretch. The total length of this route is 21 kilometers, with a 13.76 km underground stretch. The total length of the tunnels for both directions is 20.99 km, with 19.08 km of tunneling completed.

The tunneling work is expected to be completed in two months, followed by two years to complete the civil works, according to BMRCL officials.

Blue Line: The Blue Line, which connects Kasturinagar RSM Mandoli to Devanahalli International Airport, is being constructed in two phases. This route is 58.19 km long and has 30 stations. The route is set to open for traffic by December 2026, according to BMRCL public relations officials.

Already, in the last 11 years, the number of passengers traveling on our metro's Green and Purple lines has exceeded 100 crore. The metro's coverage has been expanding year by year, with the metro now covering 73.81 kilometers, up from the initial 6.7 kilometers. Commuters are choosing the metro to save time and avoid traffic congestion.
